A Beautiful Disaster:Anawangin, Nagsasa and Capones Island

Zambales is the 2nd largest province of Central Luzon. The province is just 3-4 hours from Manila. It is well known because of the Mt. Pinatubo which buried some of the places nearby on 1991. Anawangin and Nagsasa are among the famous camping sites for the campers because of its beautiful and perfect landscapes.
People travel for some reasons. But I,as a traveller, seek to a little adventure, a place where in I could relax and escape from a busy hussle and stressful work.
I spent my Birthday in Zambales province which is known for its beautiful and amazing landscapes and coves.
Need relaxation? Well, go to Zambales!
If you are planning to go there, the best days are during weekdays. During weekends, it is very crowded and you can't enjoy its real beauty.
I'm afraid that I cant give full details for DIY Travellers because we purchase vouchers from Metrodeal.

How to get to Anawangin or Nagsasa:
  1. From Manila-catch a Victory Liner bus going to Iba, Zambales or Sta. Cruz, and get off at San Antonio Public Market .
  2. You may also travel by bus to Olongapo City, and then ride another bus going to Sa. Antonio market.
  3. Take a tricycle in front of the market to Pundaquit.
  4. In Pundaquit, rent a boat to Anawangin or Nagsasa Cove.(if you purchase a voucher in Metro Deal you don't need to rent because in the voucher, boat rental was already included.
What to Bring:
1.Tent-if you are a budget traveller, you'll need to bring a tent.  Renting a tent in the cove would cost Php500.00 .
2.Sunblock
3.Sunglass
4.Food-you can buy something to cook in the market before going to Pundaquit.
5. Water-never forget to bring. Water in the island cost 3x of the original price.
6.Flashlight-There is no electicity in the Island.
7.Camera- The place is a picturesque. Everywhere is a click and point.
ISLAND HOPPING TO CAPONES ISLAND,ANAWANGIN,AND NAGSASA
  1. Capones Island- first stop is in Capones Lighthouse. It is one of cultural heritage of the Province. It is made by the Spanish long time ago. The lighthouse is being used to guide the ships and other Marine Vessels. The place was totally abandoned and everything is ruined  but despite of destruction,I found it still stunning.

The place has a nice view of the sea on top.
Capones Island was also known as Isla de Gran Capon during the Spanish era.
The place is surrounded by a rocky shores so be careful when you go off the banca you might get wounded as it is also wavy.

To reach the lighthouse you have to hike about 10 minutes.

2. Anawangin
Anawangin is One of the most popular tourist destination in the Philippines. It is perfect for a quick goers and cheap get away. The place is shaded by many agoho trees and the coast was spewed by the volcanic ashes caused by the Mt. Pinatubo erruption. We just had ur stop over here since Nagsasa is an hour boat ride.

3. Our last destination is in Nagsasa Cove.

we stayed here for overnight and pitched tent in their shaded camping site. Luckily there is a store located nearby and they are also the owner of the camp site. However, buying in the store is not practical. Food and Water in the store is very expensive.

you wouldn't get bored here because there are activities like Kayaking, trekking, swimming and play volleyball along the shoreline.

It was a great experience here. This is my first time camping outside our province and this place made me feel how to live a simple life where in there's no cellular data signal, No internet, No electricity just enjoy every moment here.
In the store, they have electricity where in if you ran out of cellphone or camera battery you can charge for Php100.00.
During afternoon when the sun almost sets, you'll see people here cleaning the surroundings, the aeta( Tribe from Zambales)vendors selling some souvenir made by them who lives nearby, children playing around, and dogs relaxing and also enjoying the beauty of the place.

At night, there's nothing to do but to sleep and relax. Don't forget to wake up early and go climb up in the hill to see the 360 degrees view of Nagsasa.

Expenses:
  • MetroDeal Voucher: Php788.00/Person
  • Transportation from Vigan-San Antonio: Php1,100/person(Back and Forth San Antonio)
  • Food: Php 200.00(2 persons)
Total: Php 1,988.00 each

I also recommend Crystal Beach Resort located in San Marcelino, Zambales it is just 15 minutes drive from San Antonio Market.
I'm missing this place. The silence, relaxing environment and the simple life..

Can't wait to go back here again.
